Biography

I currently reside in Woodstock, NY.  I was born in New York City, where, from my teen years on, I became interested in various forms of holistic healing of the body, mind, and spirit.  I had a natural curiosity about the body's healing processes.  For the past forty years, this curiosity has served me as I searched out diverse modalities of healing that I could use in helping others to heal themselves.

In 1973, I traveled to Mexico to learn the ancient healing methods of the Mayan Indians.  I spent three years in the field, identifying, gathering, and learning the proper use of indigenous medicinal plants.  I practiced among the native peoples, traveling from village to village, becoming known as a "barefoot doctor."

Several years later, I attended the Taos School of Natural Healing in New Mexico where I developed a working knowledge of herbology and reflexology.  I studied with the "father of herbology," Dr. John Christopher, who is well known for his popular line of herbal formulas. I also studied anatomy, physiology, and nutrition. I learned to identify weaknesses in the body's organs and energy systems, and how to successfully support patients through their "healing crisis".

Between 1976 and 1980, I taught herbology at the Integral Yoga Institute in New York.  I completed my degree in Naturopathy at the Brentridge Forest School, Sussex, England and completed my Masters Degree at the Emerson College of Herbology. My studies encompassed the preparation of homeopathic extracts, diet, nutrition, and client analysis. I also did two months of clinical work in Mexico and returned to study Iridology with the field's leading expert, Dr. Bernard Jensen, in Escondido, California.

Using my knowledge and experience in wild-crafting, I assembled an innovative Herbal First Aid Kit.

I also created the "High Falls Food Co-Op Cookbook of Vegetarian Cuisine".  In 1986 I opened and operated "Healing Pleasures," offering clients unique relaxation and stress reduction practices. I also studied and practiced non-surgical face lifts, Kabbalistic healing, and stress management.

I opened my holistic practice in the Hudson Valley in 1992. Since then, I have worked with clients, giving them renewed hope.  My healing practice has attracted clients from around the country and around the world.

In 1993 I graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelor of Science degree.  In 1998 I became a Clinical Nutritionist and in 1999 I became a Certified Dietary Nutritionist.

I offer help to those who have relentlessly attempted to heal through various traditional, and even holistic, modalities without success.  My vision consists of empowering my clients to take responsibility for their own healing, and I ask only that my clients understand the importance of this responsibility in the healing process. Only by taking responsibility for themselves can they benefit from the natural innate healing ability of the body.

A loose-leaf notebook sits in the waiting room of my office containing hundreds of letters from clients thanking me for the help I have given them in their journey to healing.

I have an active interest in and am a member of the following organizations:
American Naturopathic Medical Association
International & American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists
Healthcare is a Human Right (Vice President)
Family of Woodstock
Master Gardener Program
Ulster County Women's Network
Woodstock Chamber of Commerce
